"No one really thought about Wanda Petronski once she was in the classroom. The time they about her was outside of school hours, at noontime when they were coming back to school, or in the morning early before school began.
Then sometimes they waited for Wanda - to have fun with her."
While the illustrations are whimsical and the cover of the book prepares you to settle in for what should be a heart-warming story, this book will pull at your heart strings. Oh, and you may need a tissue.
This story follows a little girl named, Wanda, who gets teased by two girls at school because of how she dresses, her last name and where she lives.
One of the girls who does the teasing knows what they are doing is wrong, yet she is afraid she will be the next to be picked on if she doesn't continue.
A true #livingbook, The Hundred Dresses, gives a clear and sibering picture of how teasing can affect everyone involved.
I think what I appreciate most about this book, is that it doesn't fully resolve. The ending leaves you feeling the weight of words and actions that can't be taken back.
This book is a fantastic way to help teach children the seriousness of teasing others.
