I have a love/hate relationship with sensory bins and activities. 😂 While they can be so fun for a while, it takes a lot of patience (especially with a one-year-old and four-year-old) and...well, I'm probably just a bit too much of a perfectionist. Anyone else relate?
However, I do enjoy putting sensory activities together for my boys from time to time.
Yesterday I created these sensory bags. They were so easy to put together and fairly mess free (until my youngest got a hold of them later, but that's a different story.)
All you need is a ziploc bag, a few toy fillers and a gel substance like hair gel, hand sanitizer, etc.
I created a letter matching bag and a color matching one. You can check out my stories later for a closer look.
While I'd love to say this gave us hours of play....uh, it didn't. The oldest got into the activity, completed it, and was done. The youngest mostly enjoyed squishing the whole bag together. But it was a easy teaching moment and...well, it is fun to squish the bags.
I'm always inspired by moms who just thoroughly enjoy doing this for their kids because I know there are so many benefits to sensory play.
While my sensory activities aren't quite to this scale, here are a few accounts that have inspired me lately:
