My four-year-old is beginning to listen to audiobooks and story CDs a lot, so I'm always on the lookout for good audio adventures for my kids to enjoy! 🎧

Growing up, I remember constantly listening to the dramatized adventures from Radio Theatre (produced by @focusonthefamily).

They offer so many well-known classics like Little Women, The Secret Garden, Anne of Green Gables, and my favorite, Ben Hur. 😍 There are also adventures like Squanto, William Bud, and The Luke Reports.

Award-winning actors and beautifully orchestrated music bring these classics to life right in your own home. 🤍

While I would definitely keep in mind age appropriateness, each story is clean and so well done.

There are SO many adventures to choose from and they are all available for purchase on CD or download. You can also listen to an episode each week on their website.

Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆

Recommended Ages: Each story varies. Please use your discretion per your child's ages.

Valuable Lessons: Since each individual story varies from the others, there are so many lessons that can be pulled from each.

Questionable Content: There is no content I would call questionable.

The Father Gilbert Mysteries include aspects of the spiritual realm. As Father Gilbert settles into his position as an Anglican priest, he finds himself the center of one strange mystery after another. There are a few mentions of ghosts, visions, and demons. Most of the stories are not dark, except for the one called "The Gray Lady". Father Gilbert wrestles through these spiritual battles by calling on the name of the Lord.

Oliver Twist errs on the dark side. I would recommend that you as a parent listen to this story before giving it to your children. There are references to beatings, a shooting, and a man accidentally being hung by the neck, amongst other dark details.

Ben Hur includes some light relationship details between the main character and two women. He is infatuated with one lady until he learns her true character. He then falls in love with another woman. These details are not the main part of the story, only the back story.

Billy Budd, Sailor may be a hard story to navigate for younger children. It includes details of a hanging of a young man and it is up to the listener to decide whether it was truly deserved or not.

Bonhoeffer and The Hiding Place both include aspects of World War II.

Some of the stories have heavier messages or details. Use your discretion per your child's ages.
