Jonathan Bean has been one of our favorite authors for a while now and I think it's time to highlight his work.
We love all four of the main works that he has written and illustrated.
• At Night - a cute, short story
• This is My Home, This is My School - an ode to homeschooling.
• Building Our House - a personal account of when his family built their home from start to finish.
• And our favorite, Big Snow. David is anticipating the first big snow of the season, but while he waits he tries to help his mom clean and prepare the house for company.
The one thing I love about these stories is that each one is like a glimpse inside the author's own life. He isn't writing about something he had to research. The stories come from his own experiences and his own childhood which makes them very relatable.
I also really enjoy when an author illustrates his or her own artwork because then it feels like the whole book is a reflection of themselves.
If you haven't had a chance to check out Jonathan Bean's work yet, please do! Its worth your time! 🤍
