Do you have ever try to collect every book from a certain author that you especially enjoy?
I'm not sure why this is such a thing for me? When I find an author whose work I thoroughly enjoy, I love collecting their books and having them on my bookshelves.
Brian Floca is one that I collect. He has illustrated many books throughout his lifetime, but his main works that he has both authored and illustrated, are my absolute favorites.
Not only are his illustrations gorgeous, his books are full of life. He spins a story in such a way that you learn so much while you read.
These three titles are my absolute favorites of his:
• Lightship - this book highlights the work of a lightship and its crew. I didn't even know there was such a thing as a lightship before reading, but it was so interesting learning about them in story form.
• Locomotive - In this beautifully illustrated story, Brian gives us a picture of what it was like to travel from east to west on the first trans-continental railroad.
• Moonshot: The Flight of Apollo 11 - We have been getting ready to do a study on the moon, and this book is definitely one of my favorites out of all books I've read about the moon so far.
If you get a chance to read these or any of Brian Floca's other work, please do! I hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Life Lessons: Brian writes his books in such a way, that you learn things without even realizing it. While his books don't really focus on character building lessons, they do focus on interesting times in history or about things we may not know much about.
